Consumer attitudes and behaviour regarding consumption of plastic goods proper waste management are importance for reducing microplastic (MP) pollution. Therefore, based on Eurobarometer survey, this study aims to analyse European related pollution reduction. Europeans acknowledge marine river as important environmental problems worried about plastics MP impacts. However, does not translate into reduction behaviours. Regression analysis show that analysed behaviours likely be undertaken by women, younger, with higher incomes respondents those who express worry Industry big companies seen having the main role in littering, chargers single use being less important. Respondents also stress education. Hence, focus concrete steps reduce waste, highlighting interaction individual actions environment should given.

Abstract Microplastics, an emerging pollutant, have garnered widespread attention due to potential repercussions on human health and the environment. Given critical role of seafood in food security, growing concerns about microplastics might be detrimental meeting future global demand. This study employs a discrete choice experiment investigate Chilean consumers' preferences for technology aimed at mitigating microplastic levels mussels. Using between-subjects design with information treatments, we examined impact informing consumers environmental effects linked pollution their valuation technology. We found that treatments increased consumers’ willingness pay them. Specifically, mussels 90% depuration efficiency certification is around US$ 4. The provision price premium by 56%, while it 21%. Furthermore, combined significantly probability non-purchasing behavior 22.8% risk perception 5.8%. These results emphasize shaping consumer provide evidence validating investment research development related mitigation measures.
