Abstract Public preferences for coastal climate adaptation strategies have been increasingly documented in the face of change and sea-level rise regions worldwide. However, empirical evidence whether public is familiar with these remains unclear. In this study, we conducted an online survey among residents three counties Southeast Florida, United States to elicit households’ familiarity different examine socio-demographic disparities. Using a multinomial logit model, find that although most respondents are strategies, disparities level evident. Specifically, Black significantly less likely be when compared their White counterparts. Moreover, having college degrees or more advanced increases respondents’ probability being very strategies. Respondents’ risk perception awareness current flood also influence Since adaptive planning often overlooks equitable access, local support essential implementing our results can provide insightful policy implications management. A lack marginalized vulnerable populations lead insufficient aimed at mitigating risks, exacerbating issue justice.
