This study evaluates for the first time plastic litter occurrence in Posidonia spheroids of four Mediterranean sandy beaches at different anthropogenic impact. A total 80 was analyzed and 202 items were found. Spheroids entangled a high number (132 items/kg) with significant differences between beaches. Our results highlight importance to implement beach cleaning plan removal all order prevent them from flaking releasing marine trapped inside again environment. should be manually removed protect banquettes.
