Abstract Background Research on microplastics has largely focused the environment and marine organisms until recently. A growing body of evidence detected in human organs tissues, with their exact entry routes being unclear potential health effects remain unknown. This scoping review aimed to characterise tissues organs, examine addressing gaps research analytical techniques. Methods Eligibility criteria included English language full text articles, in-vivo studies only, searching databases using pre-defined terms. We based our analysis reporting PRISMA guideline examined quality risk bias assessment tool. Results Of 3616 articles screened, 223 evaluated 26 were eventually this review. Nine high for bias, three rest low bias. Microplastics 8/12 organ systems including cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine, integumentary, lymphatic, respiratory, reproductive urinary. also observed other biological samples such as breastmilk, meconium, semen, stool, sputum urine. can be characterised shape, colours, polymer type. Potential into atmospheric inhalation ingestion through food water. The extraction techniques vary significantly, each offering distinct advantages limitations. Conclusions are commonly characteristics routes, variable exist.

This study discusses the numbers, types, shapes, and sizes of microplastics (MPs) in marine surface waters, sediments, fish Peninsular Malaysia. Research publications were gathered organized utilizing Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink from 2015 to 2024. The review findings indicate a lack evidence about microplastic contamination Kelantan, Perlis, Johor, Melaka, highlighting necessity for more research these regions. Moreover, on life, including fish, requires standardization methodologies equipment. Currently, investigations flesh are still limited require studies concerning human health risk assessment. Ultimately, focused mitigation strategies comprehensive through development standardized equipment required assess environment protect ecosystems humans, particularly

The significant accumulation of marine debris on beaches poses a challenge and raises serious concerns to the global environmental sustainability. It has been previously reported that Southeast Asian (SEA) is one hotspots contributor almost 30% pollution world oceans. This review discusses provide information mitigation efforts associated with beach clean-up initiatives combat in Asia. We employ comprehensive qualitative data analysis from relevant literature reviews conducting structured study specific region, therefore, this research highlights prevalence characteristics addressed Coastal Cleanup Activities (CCA) Asian. Abstract Microplastics (MPs) are ubiquitous in the marine environment and harmful for biodiversity. This review was based on 311 studies published various online platforms between 2006 2024 MP contamination sediment water different countries of Asia. The research highlights an increasing trend studies, with China India. Analytical techniques sample collection, digestion, flotation, polymer identification discussed. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) emerged as preferred method identification. maximum sediments recorded at Taiwan Indonesia, while China, Malaysia, fiber most dominant shape. 1–2 mm 500 μ—1 mm‐sized MPs having blue color were found dominantly. pollution indices revealed a very high risk all Asian countries. Practitioner Points India leading publications studies. Common tools used steel scoop/spatula/shovel sediment, nets water. FTIR is Highest Indonesia Dominant shape: fiber; size μ–1 mm, color.
