Ghost fishing is a global issue that can be addressed using gear materials do not persist in the marine environment. However, for these alternatives to widely adopted, they must meet same mechanical specifications as current commercial while degrading without any negative impact. The objective of this study was compare conventional gillnet made polyamide 6 (PA6) with an alternative poly(butylene succinate-co-adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBSAT) at three different scales: monofilament, knot, and net. While PBSAT monofilament's strength half PA6 net, knot net losses were even more significant. This indicates greater sensitivity material knot. Since results between scales coherent, testing whole panels necessary. Studying curvature behaviour revealed its complex geometry behaviour. Testing weaver's good indicator studying relevance materials. should considered when developing biodegradable nets order reduce ghost sea.

ABSTRACT Cultivated meat, the process of generating meat in vitro without sacrificing animals, is a promising alternative to traditional practice livestock agriculture. However, success this field depends on finding sustainable and economical replacements for animal-derived expensive fetal bovine serum (FBS) that typically used cell culture processes. Here, we outline an effective screening vet suitability microbial lysates support growth immortalized satellite cells (iBSCs) mackerel (Mack1) cells. We show easily producible, low-cost whole-cell from Vibrio natriegens can be create serum-free media long-term iBSCs. The optimized medium, named “VN40” (basal B8 containing lysate proteins at 40 µg/mL), outperforms previously established while maintaining phenotype myogenicity. Overall, study shows novel approach producing cultivated production using microbially-derived lysates.
