The Blue Economy offers Bangladesh a transformative pathway for sustainable development by leveraging its extensive 710-kilometer coastline and 118,813 square kilometers of Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Bay Bengal. Key sectors such as fisheries, hydrocarbons, maritime trade, renewable energy, coastal tourism present significant opportunities economic growth, employment, environmental conservation. Marine resources, including culturally economically vital hilsa fish, untapped offshore energy reserves, highlight potential this sector. Despite these opportunities, challenges institutional capacity limitations, degradation, insufficient research technology, geopolitical dynamics hinder progress. Addressing requires multi-sectoral approach, establishing dedicated authority, enhancing marine research, fostering public-private partnerships, promoting regional cooperation under frameworks like BIMSTEC. Environmental sustainability building communities are critical to achieving long-term benefits. Aligning with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) further ensures role diversifying economy, ensuring security, uplifting communities. With strategic investments, visionary leadership, practices, can harness potential, positioning itself model ocean governance thriving economy. Bengal holds promise brighter future, waiting be navigated wisely.

Small- and medium-sized ports (SMSPs) face multifaceted challenges, including environmental pressures (pollution, resource depletion) as well socio-economic strains (community impacts, trade dynamics). Governance complexities, regulatory fragmentation, limited funding, stakeholder conflicts further exacerbate these challenges. This study identifies context-driven sustainability indicators for SMSPs proposes best practices to enhance their resilience. Four small/medium-sized in Crete, Greece—Souda (CHA), Heraklion (HER), Rethymnon (RET), Sitia (SIT)—were evaluated benchmark performance using tailored indicators. The primary objectives were the following: (a) identify relevant SMSPs, focusing on economic, environmental, social aspects, (b) propose enhancing ports, considering unique characteristics constraints. A combination of Best Worst Method (BWM) VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) analysis was employed. findings revealed that “environmental monitoring management” “security employment protection” are top priorities while “competitiveness” a crucial indicator small emphasizing need financial context global trade. These results offer strategic roadmap policymakers, guiding interventions aimed at improving resilience thereby supporting regional economies international networks.

This article empirically analyzes the influence of green finance (GF) on ocean health. Employing 10 indicators and a composite Ocean Health Index (OHI) to measure efficiency sustainability economies, study spans 9 years across 35 countries. Multiple econometric methodologies, including Feasible Generalized Least Squares (FGLS), Panel-Corrected Standard Errors (PCSE), 2-step Method Moments (GMM), demonstrate substantial negative association between GF An extensive analysis GF's relationship components indicates that negatively impacts each 6 aspects OHI.
