Marine plastic waste represents, in recent decades, a major threat to the environment, as plastics degrade into microplastics (MPs) that wide range of organisms ingest. Filter-feeding taxa, including bivalves, serve indicators environmental contamination due their ingestion MPs. This study investigated (a) bioaccumulation and depuration capacities Ostrea edulis exposed MPs (b) identification reference genes for assessing stress responses bivalves under MP exposure. The experimental protocol comprised 28-day exposure followed by 7-day period. mean concentration accumulated was 5.31 ± 0.86 particles/g, comprising filaments (79%), beads (19%), fragments (2%). Depuration reduced concentrations 69% after 24 h an additional 23% 120 h. In conclusion, two-day period significantly oysters intended human consumption. Additionally, molecular analysis identified EF-1α, GAPDH, L5 stable markers experiments, supporting development monitoring toolkit marine environments.
