Abstract Through biodeposition, oysters increase the flux of organic carbon (OC) that deposits and stabilizes on seafloor is potentially recorded in sediment core. However, linkage between oyster farming OC burial has not received much attention. This study selected a typical farm with approximately half century history Sanggou Bay, China. The efficiency during vicissitude was reconstructed by estimating biodeposition flux. Additionally, microbial necromass determined to indicate activities. results showed an when became intensive, reaching average 91.60 ± 10.98 g m−2 yr−1 mean contribution 30.51 8.56% OC. negatively correlated 30.17 12.19%. outcomes suggest strong capacity. Nevertheless, from excessive triggers stronger degradation OC, reducing ratio biodeposit burial.
