The development of casein-based plastics, as well starch-based ones, produced from hydrocarbons and their derivatives is an alternative to conventional plastics. While its use dates the late 19th century under principal name galalith, interest on plastics has revived recently due increasing efforts for implementing circular economy converting waste reusable materials. abundance derived dairy industry allowed casein enter field material tinkering design process. In past two decades, extensive research been carried out, in a more industrial sense, revival materials, mostly, but not exclusively, production formaldehyde-free products. these studies, focused particularly creation packaging films, some cases edible experiments were conducted effect blending starch or pectins with different plasticizers, such polyols (e.g., glycerol sorbitol). In this study, the biodegradation properties of leather treated with various finishing chemicals were evaluated in order to enhance sustainability processing. We applied advanced analytical techniques, including FT-IR, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and solid-state NMR spectroscopy. Leather samples different polymers, resins, bio-based materials, traditional agents subjected a composting process under controlled conditions measure their biodegradability. The findings revealed that polyurethane finishes acrylic wax exhibited biodegradability, while chemical like isocyanate nitrocellulose lacquer showed moderate levels. results indicated significant differences rates impact on plant germination growth. Some such as black pigment, wax, beneficial for growth, others, had adverse effects. These support use eco-friendly reduce environmental footprint production. Overall, study underscores importance selecting sustainable promote leather-manufacturing practices.
