Stabilization of pavement base material using asphalt emulsion has been widely used to improve performance. This technology produces a high-quality course with decreased energy consumption, carbon footprint, and raw usage. Cement as common additive these mixes strength moisture resistance. However, some drawbacks are also associated cement, such negative environmental impacts, high costs, low-temperature deficiencies. Asphaltenes is by-product oil-sand bitumen little commercial value in current practice. To investigate the impact asphaltenes on improving rheological properties binder, series binder characteristics tests dynamic shear rheometer, breaking time microscopic evaluation conducted modified asphaltenes. then added emulsion-stabilized granular material, be compared mixtures prepared cement. Two cement-modified unmodified mixtures. All tested for permanent deformation sensitivity Hamburg wheel tracker flow number test, while evaluated indirect tensile tests. Dynamic modulus analyze viscoelastic behavior mixes. The results this study reveal considerable increase rutting resistance by adding 1% both additives (by total weight mix), asphaltenes-modification shows less adverse impacts at intermediate low temperatures than cement-modification.

Road pavements are exposed to traffic and temperature effects that produce distress, mainly cracking leads pavement failure, after which rehabilitation actions necessary extend life. Bio-rejuvenators have been used recover the bitumen properties lost due fatigue of asphalt mixtures ageing variations oxidation. Thus, this paper investigates healing modified with bio-oil derived from biodiesel production. One base in three different stages (unaged, short long-term ageing) was for adding up 3% bitumen. In addition consistency rheological tests characterise bitumen, resistance without rest periods were performed assess through indexes, relating complex shear modulus, number cycles failure amount damage, a period. It verified follows an exponential law period, but each loading period decreases compared previous For 15-minute limited 26.9%, contributed significantly restoration.
