Abstract DHHB (n-hexyl 2-(4-N,N-diethylamino-2-hydroxybenzoyl) benzoate) is a recently developed UV absorber that demonstrates high degree of safety, excellent efficiency, and favorable solubility properties. In this paper catalyst was prepared to catalyze the esterification with homemade sulfonic acid modified polystyrene microspheres coated silica instead conventional H 2 SO 4 . And characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The effects different conditions on reaction rate equilibrium conversion were also investigated using as benchmark. results showed catalytic activity did not decrease significantly after 10 consecutive cycles, yield could reach 90.21 % h at 150 °C. Meanwhile, kinetic experimental data obtained correlated proposed homogeneous phase model. synthesis heat-absorbing heat activation energies 4.6537 kJ/mol, 43.2157 kJ/mol 37.5735 for forward reverse reactions, respectively. It verified model accurately described processes reaction.
