Water electrolysis is currently a major technique to produce clean hydrogen, which regarded as promising and sustainable energy carrier. The efficiency of water highly dependent on the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) anode. evaluation an OER electrocatalyst frequently carried out three-electrode system in container electrolyte. Herein, we found that electrode positions electrolyte could significantly affect data acquisition performance. After detailed investigation, reveal difference activity at different position originated from their iRu drop gas diffusion resistance. For first time, this work evokes concerns accurate electrocatalysts regarding position. fair comparisons reliable results, it strongly suggested keep unchanged electrochemical measurements. In addition, establishment standard electrolyzer setup for electrocatalysis community also called for.

The electrocatalytic performance of VSe2 doped with nonmetals (NMs) was studied using density functional theory, in which NM atoms (C, N, O, P, S, F, Cl, Br, and I) replaced Se or V (denoted as NM@Se NM@V). Notably, P@V Br@V monolayers exhibit high catalytic hydrogen evolution reaction activity the lowest ΔGH* = 0.08 eV −0.03 eV, respectively, surpassing Pt (ΔGH* −0.1 eV). By applying scaling relationship H*, is an intermediate for each volcano, exchange current diagrams are established. Based on thermodynamic analysis, produce currents about −1.42 −0.70i0/(A cm−2), respectively. oxygen I@Se monolayer (ηOER 0.95 V) best among all monolayers. Among reduction catalysts, O@Se displays a low ηORR (0.82 V), even better than that binary Pd alloys (0.9–0.87 V).
