MoS2 nanosheets with different concentrations of S vacancies (VS-MoS2) were synthesized and used for photocatalytic nitrogen reduction reactions (pNRR), the mechanism enhancing activity was explored through DFT calculation. The material characterization confirmed successful construction at on spherical cluster structure MoS2. experimental results show that introduction significantly improves pNRR, it increases increase vacancy number, consistent trend photoelectric performance. VS-MoS2-3 exhibits highest pNRR efficiency, which is 3.5 times higher than pristine MoS2, after being reused three times, only decreased by about 11%. calculation indicate exposed Mo atoms generated alter charge layout surface while providing abundant active sites. Meanwhile, band gap will narrow vacancies, beneficial transfer charges. In addition, one hand, strengthens adsorption N2, weakens H, selectivity nitrogen, conducive to progress NRR. On other more electrons can be transferred from adsorbed N2 molecules, hybridization between them better activating N2.
