Transition metal-based electrocatalysts are active materials for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). However, their activities depend heavily on in situ reconstructed new catalytic layer, which severely curtails rational design and screening of well-defined during synthesis stage. Here, we present a method to deliberately catalyst layer by adding small amount Fe3+ ions electrolyte. We investigated effect reconstruction process NiCuOxHy subsequent contribution activity. The presence promotes formation with fewer vacancies. This structural feature allows fast charge active-species transfer near layer. Moreover, Fe3+-ion-regulated has suitable electronic configuration intermediate adsorption, thus reducing kinetics. With assistance trace ions, an increase current density up 54.2% can be achieved. electrolyte concentration saved 50% (0.5 M) while maintaining 150 mA cm-2. work provides insights into ion-catalyst correlation surface offers guidance efficient OER electrocatalysts.
