This article analyzes the natural characteristics of cracked aero-engine blades using Mindlin–Reissner shell element. A variable cross-section blade model is validated against an ANSYS Solid185 model. The effects crack position, depth, and length on frequencies mode shapes are studied, revealing frequency veering, shape interaction, coupling. Results show that increasing depth proximity to root reduce frequency. contour method first three effectively determines aiding early detection maintenance components.
