Barley sprouts, the germinated and grown leaves of barley, contain various bioactive compounds, including policosanol, saponarin, lutonarin. The ingestion barley sprouts may benefit canine weight management, potentially owing to anti-obesity properties compounds. However, there is limited evidence on efficacy safety sprout supplementation in dogs. Therefore, through this study, we assessed impact barley-sprout-supplemented diet body health markers healthy adult beagles over a 16-week period. results showed 7.2% reduction dogs fed diet. Hematology, complete blood cell count, biochemistry analyses confirmed that all parameters remained within normal ranges, with no significant differences observed between control experimental groups. Although levels IFN-γ, IL-6, insulin stable, leptin, hormone associated fat, significantly decreased. Further analysis alterations gut microbiota following revealed groups respect alpha beta diversity analysis. shift at phylum level, decrease Firmicutes an increase Bacteroidetes, resulted reduced Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio. Additionally, abundance Ruminococcus gnavus group was high group. Functional predictions indicated enhancement carbohydrate, amino acid, cofactor vitamin metabolism. These findings suggest safe for offer benefits management favorable weight, levels, composition.
