The development of efficient sensors able to detect alcoholic compounds has great relevance in many fields including medicine, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, safety, security. In addition, the measurements alcohols air are significant for environmental protection because volatile can have harmful effects on human health not only through ingestion, but also inhalation or skin absorption. analysis breath is a further expanding area, being employed disease diagnoses. analyses performed by using chromatography, mass-spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared Raman spectroscopy often require complex sampling procedures. As consequence, research groups focused their efforts portable replace conventional methods bulky equipment. ability operate at room temperature key factor designing light devices suitable situ real-time monitoring. present review, we provide survey recent literature most chemiresistive materials alcohol sensing temperature. Remarkable gas-sensing performances mainly been obtained metal oxides semiconductors (MOSs), organic frameworks (MOFs), 2D materials, polymers. Among consider graphene-based graphitic carbon nitride, transition chalcogenides, MXenes. We discuss scientific advances innovations published span last five years, focusing mechanisms.

For the first time, we have synthesized lead (Pb)-free manganese (Mn)- and copper (Cu)-based hybrid organic–inorganic perovskite (HOIP) compounds, compound 1, (TEA)2MnBr4, 2, (TBA)2MnBr4, 3, (TEA)2CuBr4, 4, (TBA)CuBr2 (where TEA is tetraethylammonium TBA tetrabutylammonium), under ambient conditions via mechanochemical synthesis methodology using a Kakuhunter-made planetary mixer. The compounds are characterized as 2D except for (TBA)CuBr2, which has crystallized in 0D lattice. phase pure show stable solid-state emission at room temperature. Mn-based 1 showed excellent environmental photostability over month reasonable stability relative humidity of 70–80%. nanoparticle (NP) dispersions 2 were used further fluorescence titration studies various heavy metal cations, including transition metals lanthanides (e.g., Y3+, Nb3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Ag+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Pb2+, Gd3+, Dy3+), where they good switching by Pb2+ ion. Compound demonstrated performance with detection limit 2.43 × 10–8 M hence can be to fabricate calorimetric sensor. A preliminary visual thin film-based sensor NPs was fabricated test change from blue green correlation results obtained NP solution during ion sensing. fascinating situ ion-exchange-based mechanism sensitivity confirmed. This study reveals ability Pb-free HOIPs detect an oxidizing cation, efficiently quantitatively.
