Popular photoluminescent (PL) nanomaterials, such as carbon dots, have attracted substantial attention from scientists due to their photophysical properties, biocompatibility, low cost, and diverse applicability. Carbon dots been used in sensors, cell imaging, cancer therapy. Leek seeds with anticancer, antimicrobial, antioxidant functions serve traditional Chinese medicine. However, leek not studied a precursor of dots. In this study, underwent supercritical fluid extraction process. seed extract was obtained then carbonized using dry heating method, followed by hydrolysis form dot micelles (CD-micelles). CD-micelles exhibited analyte-induced PL quenching against Co

The leaching of aluminum and cobalt ions into canned foods, such as from tomato sauce tuna, raises concerns about potential health risks, making their accurate detection essential for food safety. In this study, we developed a novel ratiometric fluorometric sensor based on dual-emission carbon dots capable selectively detecting (Al3+) (Co2+) after single excitation. exhibits distinct fluorescence responses: enhance the emission at 403 nm due to interactions with nitrogen sulfur groups dot surface, while Al3+ 532 through binding oxygen-rich carboxyl hydroxyl. This differential response stems varying affinities these metal different functional groups, confirmed mechanistic studies comprehensive characterization dots, including TEM, UV-Vis, FTIR, lifetime analyses. method demonstrates excellent sensitivity, limits (LOD) 0.012 μM Co2+ 0.06 Al3+. sensor's performance was validated real samples, successfully determining in tuna. exhibited high selectivity minimal interference, achieving recovery rates 97.50-100.67% 97.01-98.02% Co2+. These findings underscore robustness practical applicability proposed reliable tool monitoring ensuring safety compliance regulatory standards.
