Natural polyphenols found in health supplements and drinks have antioxidant anti-inflammatory properties. In particular, to determine the beneficial qualities of beverages, consumers demand precise quantification total amount as on-site detection. Herein, we developed a new concept portable beads suitable for field detection available: colorimetric equipped with color converting software applications smartphone or tablet PC. The yellowish contain ferric ions react polyphenol produce blackish metal-phenolic complexes. It is simple perform procedure: dipping analytical sample out─taking photo─converting into RGB values existed polyphenol. overall process was completed within 5 min. Compared Folin–Ciocalteu assay, which representative optical sensor kit phenolic content, bead-based showed better limit 0.0415 mM tannic acid comparable sensing capability polyphenol-containing plant extract brewed tea. conserved shape sensitivity after months storage under environmental interference such change temperature.
