Picromerite K 2 Mg(SO 4 ) •6H O (also known as schoenite, schönite, or sulfate of potash) formed from alkaline lakes by evaporation is an increasingly important chlorine-free fertilizer and has been used to produce other organic fertilizers such arcanite SO boussingaultite (NH O. boussingaultite, two Tutton’s salts, are also common secondary solid phases in diverse types mine tailings play roles controlling the mobility bioavailability various heavy metal(loid)s, including arsenic. In this study, picromerite crystals containing 64 ppm As have synthesized at ambient conditions aqueous solutions slow evaporation. Arsenic K-edge X-ray absorption near-edge-structure extended fine structure data show that dominant oxidation state +5 5+ occupies S site picromerite. Single-crystal powder electron paramagnetic resonance spectra gamma-ray-irradiated reveal three arsenic-associated oxyradicals: AsO 2− , 3 . The orientations principal 75 hyperfine directions radicals match bonding groups structure, further supporting substitutions their respective diamagnetic precursors 3− for group. These similar but not identical counterparts gypsum, suggesting minerals capable sequestrating both arsenate arsenite, with implications understanding fate arsenic associated agricultural applications fertilizers.

The synergistic effect of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) on the flotation separation magnesite and dolomite using oleate (NaOL) as a collector has been studied through experiments, zeta potential measurements, contact angle Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy analysis (FT-IR), particle size measurements transmittance measurements. experiments show that when synergist, SDBS, is added to collector, NaOL, collecting ability ion resistance NaOL can be improved so realized. Zeta FT-IR indicate SDBS co-adsorb surface magnesite. Particle also improve dispersion solubility in an aqueous solution, achieve effect.
