Chemical compounds containing nitro group (nitro-products) are a one of toxic by-products, that can be formed during wastewater treatment processes. In case presence nitrite or nitrate ions, the formation nitro-products advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) is very common. It caused by reactive nitrogen species (RNs) such as radical (NO3•), (NO2•), oxide (NO•) and peroxynirite (ONOO–). fact, oxidative degradation N-containing pollutants releases nitrate, ammonium ions. some cases, secondary reactions mineralised (nitrate ions) with parent intermediate compound generate next several nitro-products. The more comparing to primary act precursors nitrogenous disinfection by-products. Moreover, studies reported unexpected degradation. special attention should made monitor minimize these effects. De-nitration initial nitro-compounds induces various in AOPs. was observed for UV light driven, Fenton persulfate based sonochemical fixation key mechanism ultrasounds Therefore, this paper focused on comparison AOPs terms mechanisms associated environmental issues.
