Abstract A sustainable porous carbon (WSPC) was applied to remove atrazine and 2,4‐ d (2,4‐dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) pesticides commonly used in cultivating grains cereals. The removals were favored at original pH values. equilibrium occurred according Brouers–Sotolongo's description. thermodynamic studies supported the exothermic behavior. adsorption data over time represented by pore‐volume surface diffusion model. Statistical mechanics revealed that multilayer model showed best fit for isotherms. steric parameters indicated adsorbed molecules are perpendicular WSPC surface. number of decreased with increasing temperature , whereas atrazine, it remained constant. energy indicates process is governed physisorption. efficiently removed from real river waters, reaching 98 % 92 removal percentages, respectively.
