Abstract The development of potential toxic metal ion probes is great significance in the field environmental detection. Herein, two squaramide ligands (2a, 2b) were constructed by combining characteristics squaric acid and imine groups. 2a 2b can recognize Cu2+ Cd2+, with LOD 1.26 × 10-8 M 2.04 M, respectively, have advantages fast response wide pH range. binding ratio mode probe target determined Job’s plot, ESI-MS 1H NMR.
