The removal of chromium compounds, particularly its more toxic Cr(VI) form, from industrial wastewater is important as it causes serious environmental and health issues. Adsorption processes have attracted continuous interest for solving these problems due to the diverse range various adsorbents. Nanomaterials are increasingly employed novel sorbents they a large specific surface area high chemical stability. Functionalization their by covalent or noncovalent interactions with other components, grafting doping heteroatoms can enhance separation efficiency. This paper aims provide insights into recent progress in application nanomaterials aqueous solutions speciation analysis it.

In recent decades, photocatalysis technology, a typical mild and environmentally friendly technique, can use sunlight to drive the oxidation/reduction reactions on surface of catalysts. However, single semiconductor materials hardly meet requirements photocatalytic application due low availability visible light, quick e − h + recombination, insufficiency active sites. Cocatalysts are often introduced solve above problems. Among numerous cocatalysts, NiS cocatalysts exhibit excellent properties, such as superior chemical stability, suitable band structure, larger specific area, which improve efficiency various semiconductors. Herein, research progress in is reviewed. First, structure several common preparation methods briefly introduced. Second, cocatalytic principle about how achieve effective separation photogenerated carriers Third, optimize catalytic activity mainly summarized. At same time, review summarizes composite photocatalysts based cocatalyst. Finally, discusses existing challenges obstacles NiS‐based systems proposes feasible improvements idea s future practical applications.
