This study investigated whether transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) targeting the inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) can alter thinking process and neural basis of creativity. Participants' performance on compound remote associates (CRA) task was analyzed considering semantic features each trial after receiving different tDCS protocols (left cathodal right anodal, L + R−; left L−R+; Sham). Moreover, we constructed compared 80 prediction models CRA for group based task-related functional connectivity. Results showed that R− improved in semantically bundled trials, while L−R+ enhanced trials with greater distance. Furthermore, alpha-band connectivity lateralization than other two groups. These findings suggest bilateral IFG alters cognitive processes during creative ideation rather enhancing or impairing an established process.

Cognitive frailty (CF) is the conjunction of cognitive impairment without dementia and physical frailty. While predictors each element are well-researched, mechanisms their co-occurrence have not been integrated, particularly in terms relationships between social, psychological, biological factors. This interdisciplinary scoping review set out to categorise a heterogenous multidisciplinary literature identify potential pathways CF, research gaps. Studies were included if they used definition CF OR focused on frailty, AND excluded studies specific disease populations, interventions, epidemiology or prediction mortality. Searches Web Science, PubMed Science Direct. Search "cognitive frailty" (("cognitive decline" impairment") (frail*)), with elicit mechanisms, predictors, causes, risk To ensure inclusion animal cell models, keywords such as "behavioural" "senescence", added. 206 papers included. Descriptive analysis provided high-level categorisation determinants from social environmental through psychological biological. Patterns distinguishing Alzheimer's identified moderators mediators underlying physiological changes trajectories development suggested foci for further research.
