Abstract Joint action (JA) is a continuous process of motor co‐regulation based on the integration contextual (top‐down) and kinematic (bottom‐up) cues from partners. The fine equilibrium between excitation inhibition in sensorimotor circuits is, thus, central to such dynamic selection execution. In bimanual task adapted become unimanual JA task, participant held bottle (JA), while confederate had reach unscrew either that or another stabilized by mechanical clamp (No_JA). Prior knowledge was manipulated each trial knew (K) not (No_K) target advance. Online transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) administered at action‐relevant landmarks explore corticospinal excitability (CSE) (cortical silent period [cSP]). CSE modulated early before started if prior information available. contrast, cSP modulation emerged later during reaching action, regardless information. These two indexes could thus reflect concurrent elaboration priors online sampling partner's (bottom‐up). Furthermore, participants selected one possible behavioural strategies, preferring late force exertion bottle. One translates into reduced risk coordination failure other metabolic expenditure. Each strategy characterised specific excitatory/inhibitory profile. conclusion, study balance paves way for neurophysiological determination individual differences combination top‐down bottom‐up processing coordination.

Emotions play a fundamental role in human interactions and trigger responses physiological, psychological, behavioral modalities. Interpersonal coordination often entails attunement between individuals various Previous research has elucidated the mechanisms of interpersonal synchronization emotions aroused by joint action: cardiac activity aligns disputing marital couples, spectators share enjoyment observing live dance performances, finger-tapping evokes positive emotions. However, little is known about impact on intentional synchronization. To address this problem, we conducted an experiment 2022 asking 60 participants to engage three-way task. We systematically induced emotional states (positive, neutral, negative) with social comparison feedback using success-failure manipulations. An analysis behavior Kuramoto order parameter revealed that negative emotion induction significantly diminished time spent synchrony compared induction. And yet, majority joint action aiming at understanding impact emotions on performance resort enacted emotions, ones that emulated based previous experience almost exclusively focus dyadic In addition, tasks chosen study frequently characterised by reduced number physical dimensions gain experimental control subsequent facilitation data analysis. Therefore, it is not clear how naturalistically induced diffuse more ecological interactions other people affect process interpersonal synchronisation. Here, we show positive negative differently alter spontaneous synchronous behaviour during improvisation task. The involved 39 participants organised triads who self-reported liking improvisational activities (e.g., dancing). task producing movements right hand. Participants were emotionally manipulated social feedback involving personal ranking score. Our results demonstrate individuals opposed or neutral state, maintained synchrony group members longer period time.
