Investigation on the pressure pulsation characteristics in a twin-screw multiphase pump

A
three-dimensional
gas–liquid
two-phase
transient
numerical
model
for
a
twin-screw
multiphase
pump
based
on
dynamic
grid
technology
was
established
and
validated
with
experiments.
The
pump's
simulated
pressure
distributions,
velocity
fields,
pulsations
were
analyzed
to
reveal
the
mechanisms
of
transmission
pulsation
characteristics.
results
indicated
that
flow
rate
fluctuated
twice
due
discharge
male
female
rotors
in
one
cycle.
As
inlet
gas
volume
fractions
increased,
decreased,
but
increased.
At
engaging
positions
two
rotor
tips,
sudden
drop
happened
combined
effect
both
tooth-tip
tooth-flank
leakage.
When
port
opened,
backflow
happened;
chamber
working
suction
chambers
closed,
slight
compression
fluid
low-pressure
occurred,
causing
increase
chamber.

so
first

running

In
the
production
of
oil
and
natural
gas,
excessive
clearance
volume
is
an
important
factor
affecting
normal
operation
oil-gas
multiphase
pump.
Currently,
little
research
has
been
conducted
on
effect
output
characteristics
pump
at
home
abroad,
leading
to
extremely
low
efficiency
in
field
application
Therefore,
this
study
numerical
calculations
internal
flow
performance
under
different
volumes
using
FLUENT
software.
Results
show
that
pressure
fluid
velocity
gradually
decrease
as
increases.
Simultaneously,
number
intensity
vortex
increase,
media
pressurization
speed
becomes
slower,
lag
angle
discharge
valve
opening
larger.
Moreover,
conditions
with
a
higher
gas
fraction,
larger
experiences
locking.
Furthermore,
provides
theoretical
basis
for
reasonable
design
by
drawing
relationship
curve
between
fraction
volume.
These
findings
can
provide
support
optimization
improvement
pumps.
