It is essential and convenient to use accurate validated numerical models simulate the seismic performance of post-tensioned (PT) rocking bridge piers, with a particular emphasis on accurately capturing behavior. The primary contribution this study comparison effectiveness four commonly used base (namely, lumped plasticity (LP) model multi-contact spring (MCS) linear elastic (MCS-LE), bilinear elastic–plastic (MCS-EP) nonlinear plastic (MCS-NP) material behavior, respectively) in modeling both cyclic responses PT piers. Also, validates 3D contact stiffness equation for assesses differences between dynamic static values springs. Both quasi-static shaking table tests typical piers are adopted calibrate/validate these models. These describing piers’ formulated calibrated, showing good agreement test results specimens. Additionally, suggested analyses identified by parametric analysis. All can predict pier’s behavior after calibration values. recommended analysis smaller than that findings provide valuable reference solution simulation

Abstract Cofferdam is widely employed in the construction of underwater bridge foundations. Its crucial attribute lies providing a dedicated platform for activities and enhancing water resistance dimensions structural design, consequently amplifying local scour. However, previous research on scour has seldom investigated effect facilities life cycle development This gap led to misunderstanding protective strategies against throughout period. In this paper, experiment was implemented with unidirectional flume. Physical model experiments were conducted scrutinize impact anti-scour rib structures The experimentally determined depth compared assess performance protection system. Oblique photogrammetry subsequently used capture morphology equilibrium pit experiments. associated topographical data imported into Fluent commercial fluid software in-depth flow field analysis. A numerical flume established examine hydraulic characteristics under two distinct conditions: smooth riverbed during initial stage scoured at To further determine mechanism protection, influence shear stress numerically. Analyses revealed that incorporating ribs cofferdam alters characteristics, hindering downward movement subsurface beneath structure, reducing bed stress, mitigating effects. instantaneous strengthens as topography develops. effectiveness mainly influenced by length, spacing, shape.
