In this paper, the hydrodynamic characteristics of a rim-driven thruster (RDT) behind hull an underwater vehicle are investigated. The studied is benchmark DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) suboff model, with and without full appendages. order to verify validate numerical grid sensitivity analysis made for AFF-1, AFF-8 ducted propeller cases, respectively. Then, resistance pressure distribution over surface appendages compared available experimental measurements good correlations were observed. As propeller, well-studied 19A duct in combination Ka-47 blades, employed, results exhibit close relationship data under wide range advance coefficients. Afterwards, self-propulsion models propelled by RDTs using different configurations studied, more specifically, unsteady effects flow field induced interactions between various working conditions. indicate that due influence hull, operate conditions open water distinct characteristics. Moreover, profile can have significant effect on fluctuations field, especially vicinity propeller.
