Preventing collision accidents between merchant ships and fishing vessels has long been a significant challenge for maritime safety in coastal waters. To quantitatively analyze the relationship risk factors contributing to these collisions, identify key leading such accidents, develop effective prevention strategies, N-K model was employed examine coupling mechanisms involved. The based on an analysis of 132 incidents China’s waters from 2013 2023. characteristics were investigated, categorized into four distinct types: human, management, environmental, ship factors. mainly considered perspective overall system, used calculate probability values associated with Modeling results indicated that value 0.1083, which 1.5 times greater than maximum three 2.1 two increases gradually increase Among categories factors, environmental is relatively large accidents. Appropriate countermeasures proposed implement preventive measures at source
