This study investigates the unsteady characteristics of turbulent horseshoe vortex in junction region between a wall-normal wing and flat plate. To achieve this, experiment was conducted planes with 0°, 15°, 30° polar angles, velocity fields were measured using particle image velocimetry under ReD=9300 37 300. By analyzing these measurements, statistical analyzed. Specifically, backflow, zeroflow, intermediate modes identified by conformity joint probability density function conditional average, data-driven proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) modes. The temporal relationship flow investigated based on POD coefficients, it statistically indicated that mode tends to appear during transition from backflow zeroflow mode. Moreover, “downwash-incoming flux” (ψDI) defined analyze field outer region. It found occurs due strong near-wall upstream jet caused downwash, while is attributed high-intensity incoming fluid.
