A substantial body of scholarship now exists describing an agricultural ethics care. This work has integrated insight from feminist ethicists into research on food production, human–nature relations, and land use. As scholars elsewhere in the humanities have discussed, though, there is often a violence committed care's name. In case production farming, I argue that focus affect, local multispecies relations proximal encounter-based risks obscuring ethically significant potentially violent system dynamics unfold beyond farm gate.
