Abstract Ba 3 RE 2 (Ge O 9 ) (RЕ = La, Pr, Nd) and La 2− x Eu germanates were prepared via solid-state reaction for the first time. The crystal structure of compounds was identified using x-ray powder diffraction. obtained results indicate that all are isostructural crystallize in a monoclinic system with space group С 2/ c, Z 4. lattice consists two kinds layers, formed from [Ge ] 6− rings or 2+ /RE 3+ cations. density functional theory calculations performed on rich set have approved high thermodynamic stability modification chair conformation rings. luminescence properties phosphors been studied under 239 nm 393 excitation. spectra contain narrow lines orange–red spectral region, associated intraconfiguration f ‒ transitions . most intensive located at 603–635 caused by 5 D 0 → 7 F transition concentration dependence indicates an effective energy transfer due to dipole–dipole interaction. possess color purity thermal allows one predict they may be successfully used solid state lighting.
