Abstract Two Curcumin (Cur) based mixed ligand complexes of Nickel have been investigated for their optical nonlinearity (NLO). Physicochemical characterization two nickel precursors and interaction with curcumin produced molecules, namely Ni(C 3 S 5 )(Cur).2H 2 O (abbreviated as NiThCur) NiCl(Cur)(PPh ) NiTppCur). Additionally the Conceptual‐Density‐Functional‐Theory (CDFT) studies were performed. CDFT‐based optimization parameters both molecules are theoretically interpreted. HOMO‐LUMO energy gap NiThCur NiTppCur calculated 1.474 eV 2.744 respectively. Both demonstrated good NLO activities, studied by a Z‐scan approach additionally Differential Four wave Mixing (DFWM) technique. Preliminarily investigations showed that can be potential limiters (OL). These divulge exhibition 3‐photon absorption (3PA) mechanism synthesized molecules. 3PA coefficient (γ) value 1.34×10 −24 m /W , third‐order susceptibility (χ (3) 1.543×10 −11 esu, figure merit 6.64×10 −14 esu was observed complex γ=3.61×10 χ =1.521×10 FoM=5.61×10 (γ DFWM methods, Normalized transmittance (NT) exhibited decrease to 78.5 % from 100 in 69.5 NiTppCur. Optical limiting calculations also presented.
