Abstract The light‐emitting electrochemical cell (LEC) forms a p‐n junction doping structure by bipolar during its initial operation. light emission originates from the region through formation and radiative decay of excitons. width this zone (EZ) is important since it strongly affects losses exciton quenching, outcoupling efficiency, drive voltage. challenge that has proven very difficult to determine dynamic EZ in LECs. Here, issue addressed presentation method fits simulated angle‐resolved spectra measured spectra, using position as two free parameters. For improved accuracy, linear polarizer employed for selective detection s‐polarized half‐cylinder enhanced spectral output. finally on common conjugated‐polymer LEC, derived decreases operation, steady‐state equal ≈20% active‐material thickness at current density 10 mA cm −2 , appears decrease with increasing density.
