Different coal seams go through distinct biological, physical, and chemical processes. Polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs) in may retain information about these processes, especially low-rank bituminous coals. Three with different sulfur contents from the Ningwu Coalfield were studied to understand relation of PAC formation Coal samples extracted by solvent separated using liquid chromatography. The collected hydrocarbon fractions analyzed gas chromatography (GC) chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A total 27 sulfur-containing PACs (SPACs) identified high-sulfur samples, whereas only 8 SPACs found low-sulfur middle-sulfur coal. ratios (T-SPACs/T-PACs) are 1.15%, 2.17%, 10.65% low-sulfur, middle-sulfur, coal, respectively. variations SPAC species their content indicate that is controlled 18 oxygen-containing (OPACs) 11 OPACs samples. average (T-OPACs/T-PACs) 9.81%, 9.62%, 6.91% low-, middle-, coals, exhibiting a negative correlation indicating also influenced polycyclic hydrocarbons (PAHs) (T-PAHs/T-PACs) 89.1%, 88.2%, 82.0% respectively, decreasing trend low- This variation could be caused reaction PAHs form SPACs.
