The South American tomato pinworm, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick), is one of the major invasive pests that causes severe economic damage to several hosts, especially plants, globally. Spinosad, a biopesticide widely used against insect pests, also shows promising results T. absoluta. Here, we investigated evolution spinosad resistance and its effects on biological traits related gene fully understand relationship between degree associated fitness costs. spinosad-resistant strain (SpRS) with moderate level (14.40-fold) was developed following continuous selection susceptible (SS) for eight generations. Fitness analysis showed larval pupal developmental durations were significantly increased, while adult emergence substantially reduced in SpRS compared SS. Adult longevity (male female), fecundity, hatching rates decreased Additionally, expression analyses indicated down-regulation development reproduction-related genes (Vg, VgR, JHBP, JHAMT, JHE, JHDK) population. Further, mRNA resistance-related cytochrome P450 CYP321C40, followed by CYP4M116, CYP6AW1, CYP339A1, CYP6AB327, increased Taken together, these although accompanied costs, indiscriminate use might elevate level. Overall, findings provide important information about trade-off cost be crucial designing management strategies this key herbivore.

Asian corn borer (ACB), Ostrinia furnacalis, is a predominant pest species that widely distributed across major corn-growing regions in China. Tetraniliprole, novel diamid insecticide, exhibited good efficacy on lepidopteran insect pests and was officially sanctioned for controlling ACB In this study, tetraniliprole-resistant strain called ACB-TLR obtained from susceptible strain, ACB-SS, after 10 continuous generation selections with tetraniliprole. Additionally, the fitness cost of assessed. The results showed developed 11.58-fold resistance to tetraniliprole realized heritability estimated as 0.213. displayed 2.10 times cross-resistance chlorantraniliprole, but we found no emamectin benzoate deltamethrin. development time larvae pupae significantly prolonged, adult longevity shorter, pupation emergence rates were reduced than ACB-SS relative 0.39. current study indicated has potential develop field. However, decreased may allow insecticide be managed.
