Medicinal plants from the genus Saururus are commonly used to treat inflammatory pathologies. They contain numerous bioactive compounds, notably polycyclic lignan sauchinone species chinensis. An in-depth analysis of benzoxanthenone lignans related sauchinone, and analogous products carpanone polemannones, has been carried out.
