Abstract. Assessing the economic implications of droughts has become increasingly important due to their substantial impacts on agriculture. Existing empirical analyses for drought damages are often conducted a national scale without spatially distributed data, which might bias estimates. Furthermore, cumulative effects multiple weather extremes, such as heat or preceded frost co-occurring with drought, overlooked. Measuring direct biophysical extremes agriculture is essential more precise risk assessment. This study presents comprehensive impact assessment framework measure and other hydro-meteorological agriculture, focusing eight major field crops in Germany. By utilizing statistical yield model, we isolate crop yields from influencing factors (such pests & diseases, farm management) analyze contribution revenue losses during at district level 2016–2022. Our findings indicate that average annual damage caused by under conditions this period amounts € 781 million across The also reveals alone account 60 % reported widespread years. For maize, explains up 97 (2018) losses. Additionally, comparison national-level estimates using aggregated disaggregated data shows matches overall results, but diverges maize wheat, highlighting importance In paper, provide detailed extremes-driven level, offering high-resolution understanding spatial temporal variability these impacts. extent resulting can valuable insights development effective mitigation programs guide policy planning local levels enhance resilience agricultural sector against future climate extremes.
