Rapid urbanization and increasing land scarcity have made urban agriculture efficient space utilization critical directions in modern agriculture. Ougan, a fruit tree valued for both its economic ecological benefits, holds significant promise dwarfing cultivation techniques. In this study, root-irrigation method was used to apply paclobutrazol at various concentrations (200, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 mg/L) Ougan seedlings, with control group comparison. Growth parameters include an average daily increase of plant height, stem girth, new branches, branch as well physiological indices such leaf SPAD values, nitrogen content, net photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, intercellular CO2 concentration, transpiration were measured during spring summer growth periods. The results demonstrate that PBZ exerts distinct concentration-dependent regulatory effect on growth: higher significantly inhibited height while promoting increases diameter, several exhibiting unimodal response. Short-term (spring) application enhanced certain parameters, rate conductance; however, prolonged exposure (summer) resulted decline efficiency overall status. Through comprehensive evaluation using principal component analysis PLS-SEM, the 500 mg/L treatment identified achieving optimal balance between inhibition maintenance nutritional status, closely approximating ideal effect. This study elucidates complex effects growth, photosynthesis, carbon assimilation through natural climate, providing robust technical theoretical support future dwarf practices. These findings facilitate development trees into bonsai vegetation, demonstrating horticultural potential.
