Food insecurity in rural communities the Southern US continues to grow, especially wake of COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, understanding population characteristics and varying community needs is critical ensure that have sufficient access stable food stocks needed maintain health. Data are presented from a survey administered six counties North Carolina, state found southern United States. These data provide important information on complexity this serious health disparity issue. Eliminating an strategy for reducing risk chronic illnesses, mental concerns, other problems among populations, particularly Black low-income which more likely be insecure. Results indicate need family financial support buy healthy foods as key addressing these counties. Additional recommendations discussed.

Child malnutrition, comprising undernutrition and obesity, is a global concern with severe implications for survival, leading to acute chronic diseases that adversely affect an individual's society's productivity. Asia shoulders the greatest burden, seven out of ten undernourished children residing there. Despite decline in child stunting, particularly Asia, its prevalence remains significant. In 2017, estimated 151 million under five experienced additional 38 were overweight, Africa accounting 25% 46% figures, respectively. To explore this issue, we analysed data from recent rounds Demographic Health Survey (DHS) India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Cambodia, Timor-Leste. This study focused on wasting, underweight among aged 0–59 months rural areas found high region, considerable variation between countries clusters/primary sampling units. The results revealed positive association malnutrition factors such as maternal illiteracy, unsafe drinking water, unclean/dirty cooking fuel South Southeast Asia. Children impoverished households Cambodia disproportionately affected. addition socio-economic factors, climatic elements like temperature rainfall also emerged influential determinants health paper emphasises contribution environmental nutrition, underscoring their significance regardless conditions. As impacts climate change continue intensify, agrarian societies bear brunt, these will play critical role shaping nutrition outcomes. Thus, amid growing change, nutritional security should be prioritised, considering spatial domain targeting distress along other demographic aspects.

Between May-September 2023, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants Rhode Island Connecticut, USA (n = 1234) completed frequency questionnaire, from which we calculated healthy eating index (HEI)-2015 scores. An online survey included questions on barriers environment, security. We used separate adjusted regression models to estimate correlates associated and/or their quality. Abstract Food insecurity is a prevalent yet overlooked issue within the inpatient setting. Despite food being predictive of poor health outcomes and increased hospital readmission rates, development efficient screening protocols remains gap in care for high‐risk, hospitalized patients. As part community needs assessment (CHNA), protocol has been implemented long‐term acute (LTACH). This multistep which each newly admitted patient asked pertinent questions related to during initial nutrition consult, led by registered dietitian, followed dissemination nutrition‐resource packet upon positive screening. The includes registry county‐based resources samples recommended oral supplements. Additionally, interdisciplinary team informed status weekly rounding facilitate appropriate coordination preparation discharge. During first year implementation, 2022–2023, an average 95% identified insecure LTACH patients per CHNA were provided nutrition‐related admission. was improved from 2023‐2024 as 100% received resources. Further, 93% captured 2023–2024 reported living geographical proximity, or same county this healthcare facility. continues be refined, future considerations include embedding brief, validated questionnaire consult well tracking metrics effectiveness.

ABSTRACT This paper investigates the role of online grocery shopping in shaping relationship between food environment and household choices, with a focus on disadvantaged groups. We employ fixed‐effect models instrumental variables using consumer data from 2015 to 2019. find that services may exacerbate nutrition inequality associated disparities. While higher density stores enhances healthfulness purchases among shoppers, it has no impact those who do not use shopping. However, convenience negatively impacts for nononline while having significant effect adopters. Moreover, adoption affects differently depending local environment: tends reduce purchase less favorable environments but improves more ones.

When students enter university, they suffer adaptations, including, usually, greater autonomy and responsibility for the choices make. Therefore, it is crucial that are well informed so as to make healthier food choices. The aim of this study was determine whether sociodemographic characteristics, academic performance lifestyle (tobacco alcohol consumption) interfere with literacy in university students. A quantitative, analytical, descriptive, transversal correlational carried out, using quantitative data obtained through a questionnaire survey applied sample 924 Portugal. Food assessed scale 27 items, distributed three dimensions: D1—Literacy about nutritional value composition, D2—Literacy labelling choice D3—Literacy healthy eating practices. Results showed no differences according sex or age. However, varied significantly nationality, either globally (p = 0.006) different dimensions evaluated (p-values 0.005, 0.027 0.012 D1, D2 D3, respectively). In terms achievement, results significant self-reported even average classification course. Regarding variables, observed consumption smoking not associated literacy, is, does vary these two variables. conclusion, general essentially constant among Portugal, only varying from abroad. Abstract Background Studies investigating the relationship between food insecurity and sleep among older populations are limited. This study aimed to cross-sectionally examine associations sufficiency status outcomes in a nationally representative sample of adults. Methods Our included 1,665 adults (≥ 65 years), using data from 2013 2014 National Health Aging Trends Study (NHATS). Food insufficiency was determined via participants’ experience utilization assistance programs (FAP). Sleep outcomes, including nighttime total hours, latency, quality, were derived self-reported data. Multivariable linear regression logistic models used estimate outcomes. Results In 2013–2014, 86.1% classified as sufficient without FAP, 9.85% with 4.08% insufficient. Adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics, FAP reported more hours (𝛽 = 0.31, 95% CI: -0.02, 0.64) than those participants who FAP. Further adjusting health factors, had greater compared Compared deemed lower odds having longer latency (OR 0.50, 0.28, 0.89), after further physical function performance. Conclusions Among adults, is associated latency. findings may help inform nutrition targeting populations.
