Abstract Paecilomyces is a ubiquitous cosmopolitan fungus. Recent reports have demonstrated that strains are efficient biocontrol agents for the management of plant pathogens in variety crops and tissues. This review covers methods based on use spp. pathogenic fungi oomycetes. showed high efficacies control various hosts under greenhouse conditions fields, demonstrating their actual applicability. The were especially wilts damping‐offs. antifungal mechanisms, including production non‐volatile compounds, VOCs, hydrolytic enzymes, competition space nutrients, induction disease resistance. Application spores resulted higher compared to application cell‐free culture filtrate. Despite interesting properties , some can cause keratitis humans, synthesize hazardous mycotoxin patulin, be fruit juice spoilage. To date, only P. variotii extract ZhiNengCong has been commercialized agricultural purposes. Collectively, further research regarding toxicity storage necessary confirm potential commercialization strains. Studies key metabolites genes involved activity understand optimize this emerging agent. © 2025 Society Chemical Industry.
