The recycling and reuse of trace uranium from spent nuclear fuel is great significance for the safety management cycle. However, stabilization low-valent has always been a challenge due to ultraoxidizable nature ions, which remains relatively uncharted territory in treatment. In current study, U4+ was immobilized Cs2UCl6 single crystal with perovskite structure uranyl under strong acidic environment. A comprehensive detailed understanding at atomic scale achieved by combining density functional theory (DFT) high-resolution integrated differential phase contrast scanning transmission electron microscopy (iDPC-STEM) imaging, captured utilizing Cs-corrected TEM first time. Furthermore, results obtained X-ray excitation photoexcitation effects produced PL 280, 330, 360 nm provide compelling evidence ability form excitable bands around Fermi level. as-synthesized demonstrates excellent thermal stability above 275 °C, as evidenced situ Raman spectroscopy thermogravimetric analysis, while degradation pathway initiated CsCl upon exposure water vapor revealed synchrotron diffraction. Thermal chemical can be further elevated consolidating it into metal-organic framework (MOF) via hot pressing. study provides promising strategy functionalize fuel.
