This work presents the synthesis and characterization of materials that contain Sn metal clusters formed by ligands trimesic acid (Sn-BTC) or 5-sulfobenzene-1,3-dicarboxylic (Sn-H3-5-SIP). These catalysts were used to convert levulinic with ethanol produce ethyl levulinate under mild reaction conditions. The results confirmed is mainly present in cassiterite crystalline phase a tetragonal rutile structure octahedral tetrahedral coordination materials. assembly (a hard base) species (Sn) formation thermally stable metal–organic frameworks. use instead incorporates sulfonic groups material, enhancing total acidity Sn-H3-5-SIP catalyst compared Sn-BTC material. exhibited highest catalytic activity when converting ethanol, resulting turnover frequency (TOF) 0.0495 s−1, which 50% increase TOF (0.0329 s−1). result can be attributed its higher concentration sites (2.23 ± 0.05 mmol H+/gcat) specific area (139 m2/g). Thus, containing tin are promising could as for synthesizing
