High-pressure hydrogen storage systems (up to 100 MPa) require advanced materials for safety and reliability, particularly rubber seals, which are prone degradation under extreme conditions. This study explores the use of cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) nanocrystals (CNCs) as sustainable nanofillers nitrile butadiene (NBR) latex nanocomposites. CNFs CNCs were evaluated their effects on mechanical properties, crosslink density, resistance high-pressure exposure in O-rings. A life cycle assessment (LCA) was carried assess environmental impact these The results showed that CNF-filled NBR composites exhibited better bubble formation compared CNC-filled ones. However, LCA indicated relatively high impacts both, reaching up 2.5 kg CO2 eq. Global Warming Potential (GWP), highlighting need further optimization production processes. demonstrates potential improve performance while advancing materials.
