Melatonin plays an important role in maintaining the postharvest quality of fresh fruit. This study focused on effect exogenous melatonin fruit softening and ROS metabolism green pepper under storage at 20℃. Our results indicated that treatment reduced transcript levels genes encoding polygalacturonase, β-glucanase (associated with hydrolysis cell wall components), lipoxygenase phospholipase enzymes, associated membrane stability, thereby preserving firmness harvested fruits; decreased transcription gene was melatonin-induced downregulation expression a corresponding factor gene. In addition, induced antioxidant enzymes catalase peroxidase, upregulated activities same enzymatic antioxidants increased ratios glutathione-to-glutathione disulfide ascorbic acid to dehydroascorbic acid. As consequence, concentrations intracellular superoxide anions, H2O2 malondialdehyde were decreased, reducing accumulation reactive oxygen species lipid peroxidation membranes. summary, this work proved application delays fruits hence extends their period shelf life.

Abstract Transitioning to safe, nonthermal, and edible strategies for maintaining fruit vegetable (F&V) quality, reducing postharvest losses (up 55% annually), ensuring food security requires extensive research innovation in technologies. This review aims provide an updated understanding of coatings or films (ECF), focusing on their role F&V losses, based data from the last 40 years retrieved Web Science database. The global ECF network is represented by publication trends, majorly researched F&V, key areas, influential emerging authors, ranking. preserving quality has been assessed examining critical parameters, including weight loss, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, ripening, softening, sensory organoleptic characteristics, browning, chilling injury, microbial safety. Furthermore, recent advancements formulations, nanoscale ingredients application methodologies, have critically discussed. Sources, categorization, strategies, mode action, functional properties, sustainable development goals (SDGs), challenges, safety, legislations, future perspectives also findings indicate that China (20.34%) USA (9.94%) are leading countries research. Studies demonstrated ECF's potential parameters through advanced compositions methodologies. Notably, supports multiple SDG targets, SDGs 2, 3, 8, 9, 12, 13, 15. Future should explore 3D‐printed coatings, nonflavor‐altering components, crosslinking agents enhance reduce losses.

Abstract Fruit firmness is an important trait for characterizing the quality and value of apple. It also serves as indicator fruit maturity, it a complex regulated by multiple genes. Resequencing techniques can be employed to elucidate variations in such traits. Here, whole genomes 294 F1 hybrids ‘Fuji’ ‘Cripp's Pink’ were resequenced, high-density binmap was constructed using 5014 bin markers with total map distance 2213.23 cM average 0.44 cM. Quantitative loci (QTLs) traits related mapped, A-T allele variant identified coding region MdNAC5 found potentially regulate ripening. The overexpression MdNAC5A resulted higher production methionine 1-aminocyclopropanecarboxylic acid compared MdNAC5T, leading reduced accelerated ripening apples tomatoes. Furthermore, activities MdNAC5T enhanced through their differential binding promoter regions MdACS1 MdERF3. Spatial caused changes expression following interaction Ultimately, utilizing different alleles offers strategy manipulate apple breeding.
