Evodiamine is a bioactive alkaloid extracted from the Evodia rutaecarpa plant. It has various pharmacological effects including anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, anti-obesity, anti-neurodegenerative, anti-depressant, and cardiac protective properties. demonstrates potent anti-cancer activity by inhibiting proliferation of cancer cells in vitro vivo. Despite health-promoting properties evodiamine, its clinical use hindered low water solubility, poor bioavailability, toxicity. Thus, there need to develop alternative drug delivery systems for evodiamine enhance permeability, stability, as well facilitate targeted, prolonged, controlled release. Nanocarriers can increase therapeutic potential therapy while reducing adverse side effects. To date, numerous attempts have been made through development smart nanocarriers overcome drawbacks evodiamine. This review focuses on applications, mechanisms, limitations Various nanocarriers, lipid-based nanoparticles, polymeric cyclodextrins, so forth, discussed extensively delivery. Nano-drug could efficacy aims present comprehensive critical evaluation several nano-formulations therapy. © 2024 Society Chemical Industry.
