Abstract
Background
Nurses
with
a
strong
professional
self-concept
tend
to
exhibit
positive
mindset
and
work
engagement,
delivering
high-quality
patient
care.
Although
numerous
quantitative
studies
have
examined
the
factors
impacting
self-concept,
there
remains
limited
exploration
of
these
from
perspective
nurses
themselves.
Methods
This
qualitative
descriptive
study
uses
PERMA
theory
Social
Cognitive
Theory
as
theoretical
framework.
Semi-structured
interviews
were
conducted
15
six
public
hospitals
in
China.
The
data
analyzed
thematically
using
combination
inductive
deductive
approaches.
Results
Nurses’
understanding
could
be
divided
into
four
categories:
identity,
competence,
care,
knowledge.
Factors
influencing
nurses’
categorized
eight
subthemes
three
domains:
(1)
personal
factors,
including
psychological
qualities
attitude
towards
nursing
profession;
(2)
occupational-related
behavioral
role-oriented
behavior
knowledge-oriented
behavior;
(3)
environment
external
evaluation
perceptions
nurses,
time
allocation,
tasks,
atmosphere,
school
education,
perceived
supports.
Conclusions
found
that,
although
had
different
experiences,
their
similar.
