The problem of corrosion in oil and gas pipelines is one the major factors affecting process safety efficient sustainability development industry. To gain a better understanding global research trends dynamics field pipeline to advance control technology, we conducted literature review using sample 1,745 papers from Web Science (WOS) database published 2002 2022. We employed bibliometric analysis approach investigate distribution publications over time, geographic regions, organizations, authors, journal cocitation, identify hotspots frontiers. results revealed an exponential growth overall number papers, with most rapid increase occurring last 4 years. China, US, Canada, United Kingdom, Brazil emerged as active countries natural research, Mexico, Australia also exhibited significant influence field. journals Engineering Failure Analysis, Corrosion, Corrosion had highest impact this domain. Notably, stood out influential highly regarded fundamental theories framework realm have been primarily established, large directions frontier branches are emerging. flow parameters on corrosion, reliability assessment, defects failures identified three main paths In terms methodologies, machine learning techniques becoming increasingly prevalent, growing studies adopting various methods. Among these methods, explainable deep at forefront corrosion.
