Abstract The detection of 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxyacetic acid (CMPA) herbicide is crucial due to the potential health risks linked exposure through drinking water, air, and food, which may adversely affect liver kidney functions. To address this environmental concern promote sustainable agriculture, a sensitive carbon paste sensor incorporating composite material was developed. based on porous cobalt-1,4-benzenedicarboxylate metal–organic framework exfoliated montmorillonite nanolayers (Co-OF/MMt). This enables voltammetric CMPA in real soil samples using linear sweep adsorptive anodic stripping voltammetry (LS-AdASV), facilitating early accurate monitoring levels. Co-OF/MMt nanocomposite synthesized via hydrothermal method involving precipitation Co-OF presence MMt. Comprehensive characterization materials carried out Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), SEM-Energy dispersive (SEM–EDX) surface area analysis (BET). resulting modified sensor, utilizing 1.0% nanocomposite, exhibited superior electrochemical properties compared with bare possessing an electroactive 1004.1 m 2 /g minimal resistivity (R ct ) 330 Ω. Under standard operating conditions, developed demonstrated limits 0.03 nM 0.1 across two broad ranges (0.03 0.10 – 1.0 nM) (0.1 7.0 nM), respectively, for determination both bulk samples. These results pointed promising direct simple certain herbicides matrices, without need sample pretreatment steps. capability supports development goals by enhancing effective monitoring. Graphical
